Description

"So there I am. King. King of all the land. And who’d have thought that? Not me. I guess you know who these guys are now. I certainly do. I don’t want to know them. And, yep, I may be king and have all the money in the world, and all the land, and all that stuff, but, you know, I don’t really think I want it. I just wanna go home, with Berri, and... I don’t know... have a bottle of beer. Hmm. *sighs* It’s not gonna happen. It’s true what they say: the grass is always greener, and you don’t really know what it is you have until it’s gone. Gone. Gone..." - Conker

I never played this game as a kid, and probably for a good reason, that and I didn't have a Nintendo 64. However, along with a new computer from my parents, my sister also got me a refurbished N64, along with Super Mario 64, Yoshi's Story, and a skiing game. I immediately made sure I got this game at some point. This game was selling for $100, but it was worth it. The graphics are great, the dialogue was superb, the humor may not have been for everyone, but that's what made the game such a cult classic.

But the ending; good god, the ending.

The ending is a total tearjerker, seriously. It's strange when something so funny has a depressing end. Regardless of wether you think Pocket Tales is canonical, Conker was a child at some point, most likely innocent and happy. Now he's a upsetting alchoholic. With his innocence gone and Berri dead, and the fact that we may never get a proper sequel, everything really is gone for poor Conker.
